Biography:

Little Richard (Rev. Richard Wayne Penniman) born on December 5th 1932 is a singer/songwriter, who had groundbreaking performance hit singles between 1955 and 1957 such as 'Tutti Frutti', 'Lucille' and 'Long Tall Sally', which helped lay the foundations of Rock ‘n’ Roll music. He was one of the first artists to be inducted in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 and in 2007 'Tutti Frutti' topped Mojo's Top 100 Records That Changed The World.

After the massive success of 'Tutti Frutti' in 1955 a string of hits followed, however, in 1957 at the top of his fame, Little Richard abandoned rock ‘n’ roll music to become a born again Christian, enrolling in Bible College and recording and performing only gospel music up until the early sixties. After this period, Little Richard, returned to performing the hits which made him famous and released new material. By the eighties he was performing rock n’ roll music with spiritual lyrics finally reconciling his role as minister and artist.
