Biography:

Donovan was the quintessential English folky who made good. In the mid-Sixties, his first single “Catch The Wind” (rather unfortunately Dylanesque) was the first of a series of hits throughout the Sixties, including “Sunshine Superman”, “Jennifer Juniper”, “Hurdy Gurdy Man” and “Mellow Yellow” (on which Paul McCartney sang backing vocals).

Donovan was, in fact, the first star of the Sixties to be bombasted for drugs, although this actually had a positive effect on his career making him somewhat of a ‘martyr to the cause’. Donovan continued to have reasonable success until the end of the Sixties, however, in the Seventies his popularity waned and although he had a number albums released during this period, apart from “Cosmic Wheels”, none really received critical acclaim.

Donovan now lives in Ireland and continues to tour the world.
