Biography:

American rock singer, songwriter and drummer Don Henley is best known as a founding member of the Eagles. His solo hits include "The Boys of Summer", "The End of the Innocence" and “Dirty Laundry”. Rolling Stone magazine ranked him the 87th greatest singer of all time.

Henley co-wrote most of the Eagles' best known songs including “Desperado” and also sang lead vocals on “Desperado”, “The Best of My Love”, “One of These Nights”, “Hotel California”, “The Long Run”, “Life in the Fast Lane” and “Wasted Time”. After 9 years together the band split in 1980 due to increasing personal tensions and Henley embarked on a successful solo career. His solo career was the most commercially successful of the band with his highest charting at No.3 in the US for single, “Dirty Laundry”. Henley also duetted with his former lover, Stevie Nicks on her top 10 release, “Leather and Lace”.

Henley had always been involved in political and social initiatives such as founding the Walden Woods Project, Caddo Lake Institute and the Recording Artists’ Coalition with singer Sheryl Crow.

Biography:

Eagles were one of the most successful bands of the 1970s, consistently hitting the top spot with both singles and albums. There are two Eagles releases in the top 10 of best-selling albums, according to the RIAA. Formed in L.A., 1970, Eagles were originally the backing band for Linda Ronstadt. Glenn Frey, Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner, two guitarists and a bassist, were hired at first, and Frey brought in drummer Don Henley.

The first single, 'Take It Easy', reached #12 on the Billboard Hot 100.  Their next single, 'Witchy Woman', reached #9. Three years later, during the promotional tour for their fourth album, “One Of These Nights”, Leadon left the band, announcing his departure by pouring a bottle of beer over Frey’s head. Guitarist Joe Walsh was quickly brought in to replace Leadon for the remainder of the tour.

1976 saw the release of Eagles’ most famous release, 'Hotel California'. The album reached the #1 chart place for eight non-consecutive weeks in 1977, and the first two singles, 'New Kid In Town' and 'Hotel California', also reached #1 in February and May respectively.

The next album, 'The Long Run', was to be Eagles’ last for a long time. In 1980, the Eagles broke up because of personal difficulties within the band. Apart from the release of a live album shortly after, they wouldn’t have another official release until 1994. The Eagles reunited and undertook the Hell Freezes Over tour, so named from Henley’s statement that Eagles would reform “when hell freezes over”. The live recordings from this tour were made into an album, which, when released, hit #1.

The band’s seventh studio album, 'Long Road Out Of Eden' was released in 2007. The present line-up consists of Frey, Henley, Walsh and bassist Timothy Schmit. They continue to tour.
