Run DMC
Run D.M.C are an influential hip hop group formed in 1983 by Joseph Simmons (DJ Run), Darryl McDaniels (D.M.C) and Jason Mizell (Jam-Master Jay) and are considered one of the most influencial groups in hip hop history. The biggest hip hop group in the 1980s they were one of the main reasons hip hop broke through into mainstream music. Their accolades include No. 48 in Rolling Stone magazine's '100 Greatest Artists of All Time', being named 'Greatest Hip Hop Group of All Time' by MTV.com and were entered into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on 4th April 2009.

Their debut single (released in 1983) "It’s Like That/Sucker MCs" was well recieved and led to them releasing their debut album "Run D.M.C". Released in 1984 it was an instant hit and included singles such as "Jam-Master Jay", "Hard Times" and "Rock Box". "Rock Box" was a mix of hip hop and hard rock and led to the emergence of rap rock in the late 90's. 1985 saw the release of "King of Rock" which included singles "Can You Rock It Like This", "Roots, Rap Reggae" and "King of Rock" which recieved alot of airtime on MTV. 1986 saw them release "Raising Hell" which included global hit cover "Walk This Way" which ended up with Aerosmith performing on the track and helping revive their career. The album had 4 Top 5 singles in the US. Other less successful albums included "Tougher Than Leather" (1988), "Back From Hell" (1990) and "Down with the King" (1993).

2002 saw the permanent disbandment of Run D.M.C after the murder of Jam-Master Jay in his Queen's recording studio.
