THE TROGGS
Formed in Andover, Hampshire, south east England in 1964 The Troggs consisted of five members- Ronnie Bond, Pete Staples, Richard Moore, Colin Fletcher and Tony Murray, the band went through several changes in the following years, and eventually became six with Reg Presley as lead singer.
During this time, their success saw band manager of The Kinks, Larry Page, sign them in 1965 and The Troggs started recording on Page One Records. Next year, they signed with CBS records with Larry Page’s assistance. This contract with CBS records helped with the success of their single "Lost Girl". Their most successful single was “Wild Thing" . The overnight success that “Wild Thing” brought The Troggs resulted in the television appearance of The Troggs in ‘Thank Your Lucky Stars’. Such huge media coverage helped them to grab the No.2 spot in the UK charts and No.1 in the United States in July 1966.

After the release of “Wild Thing”, the popularity of The Troggs soared with a number of follow up hits including "I Can't Control Myself", "With a Girl Like You", “Anyway That You Want Me", “Night of the Long Grass" and "Love Is All Around".
Ronnie Bond was the first one to quit the band and for a solo career and in March 1969, he released "Anything for you”. Later Reg Presley brought out “Lucinda Lee" followed by Chris Britton releasing a solo album, “As I Am”, in the same year.

Reforming a few years later, under Larry Page, The Troggs released The Beach Boys hit "Good Vibrations" but unfortunately, it failed to appeal to the public, in succeeding years, a reggae version of "Wild Thing" also missed the charts. French label New Rose released 1982's Black Bottom LP and 1990's AU. The Troggs released Athens Andover in 1991, which was a compilation of eleven songs sung by themselves and members from R.E.M.
After the death of Ronnie Bond in 1992, the band ceased recording.
