Smokey Robinson & The Miracles
Smokey Robinson and the Miracles were the Motown legends of the 60's who are lauded for classic tunes like ''The Tracks Of My Tears'' and ''I Second That Emotion''. The groups were headed by William Smokey Robinson Junior, born in 1940, an American R&B and soul singer-songwriter, who was tagged ''The King of Motown''.
He has been responsible for 37 Top 40 hits for Motown between 1960 and 1987, and was Vice President from 1961 to 1988 - The Miracles were one of the very first artists to be signed to the prestigious label.
Smokey Robinson wrote many songs for other Motown artists, including ''My Guy'' by Mary Wells and has been in the music world for over 50 years.

He quite the Miracles in 1972 to go solo and the band carried on a short while without their charismatic frontman, Smokey suffered from cocaine addition in the mid- 80s but recovered and was later inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.

Smokey Robinson was back in 2009 with a new album; ''Time Flies When You're Having Fun'' and performed a storming set at the Roundhouse, as part of the BBC's ''Electric Proms'' season.
