ROKPOOL RE-VISITS THE LEGENDARY UPPER CUT CLUB
The Legendary Upper Cut Club
BILLY WALKER'S UPPERCUT CLUB DEC 1966 To DEC 1967
Local boy Bob Morris is researching for Rokpool, the history on the legendary East London venue fronted by British boxing legend and run by his Brother George, (before he became a successful property developer and saviour of the British potato industry).

Remarkably the club in Forest Gate hosted a most extraordinary range of the biggest names in the UK and indeed many from America, but it only survived for a year before closing due to mounting debts. Reputedly this is where Jimi Hendrix wrote 'Purple Haze. The Who opened and closed the venue, the Small Faces rehearsed here, and virtually every touring band of any worth performed with in these walls.

Bob has interviewed many of the people involved in the venue such as the doorman, the booker, and members of the house band who have all shared their memories, and it really is an extraordinary story. So watch this space and email us with any of your own stories, or photos and you too can help save Rock History.
