ROCK STARS DEAD BEFORE THEIR TIME
It's a pretty tough life being a Rock Star, all that sex and drugs and rock 'n' roll, but lets face it , it cannot be easy being on stage with thousands of adoring fans screaming at your antics, every pelvic thrust elicits a scream from boys and girls alike, and to then go back to your hotel for a nice sleep or a gentle cocktail party to help you wind down.
The roadies are busy picking out the choices fruits for the after show party, making sure the napkins are folded, the table clothes clean and there¹s plenty of sparkling water..dream on, they're picking out the choicest babes, sourcing the best drugs and ensuring there is an excess of booze, and this is every night. In fact it's a wonder that there are not more Rock Star deaths associated with substances that really shouldn't be imbibed at all, let alone mixed in industrial quantities. It says something for the human body that it can take such poisoning and still function. There are those of course who have tested the limit with fatal consequences.
We spent a rather fruitful ( if that¹s the right expression ) morning listing those poor souls who are at that great gig in the sky, and there are an awful lot of them. The interesting thing is that they nearly all seem to have survived till about 27 and then overdosed, or much more unpleasantly drowned in their own vomit.
In our archive we have an extraordinary movie about groupies in the Sixties, the drug of choice then was marijuana, but the girls were not groupies to have sex with Rock Stars ( well obviously some were ) but it was the drugs that attracted most of them first, then getting laid, usually by someone in the road crew and not the lead singer, who would have first pick of the girls, of course hash leads to cocaine and heroin and it's the latter that's the killer especially when mixed with booze ( and the odd cheese burger ).
So we made a list of the ten Stars who didn't die of drug overdoses and here they are:
