PLANET ROCK----ROCKS

As Xmas parties go a Planet Rock event is expected, not only to be great fun, but to feature great bands and that's exactly what happened. The O2 Academy in Islington is such a great venue, big enough to pack in a pretty substantial crowd yet small enough to remain intimate.  Ok I was in the VIP lounge but did mingle with the rockers on the ground floor ( typing this, that sounds a bit pompous but thats how it was ) for a reasonable chunk of time and my,  they were really enjoying it. Hovercraft Pirates, the first act on were loud, thats the only adjective I can think of !  followed by Hot Leg. I saw them a few months back at Childline Rocks and to be honest they were a bit sloppy then, this time however a much tighter outfit and suitably eccentrically fronted by Justin Hawkins, as one of the guests said to me "it's a bit like Picasso, so weird you have to pay attention !" Gary Moore as a finale, well what can one say, he was as professional and polished as you'd expect from someone who has played more notes in one evening than most play in a lifetime.  Oh I wish it could be Christmas every weeek!
