I was looking up an old hero from  my teens - Jim Carroll - and found out to my horror that he - like his most famous song - had actually died.

Having written "Catholic Boy", "The Basketball Diaries" and "People Who Died" I saw him as someone akin to "Uncle" 'Bill' Burroughs warning us of the impending plug hole which we were all circling.

All I can add is that he died on September 11 - the most momentous of days ... Hasta!
